Guadalajara is the capital city of the state of Jalisco in Mexico and also the seat of Guadalajara municipality. Located in the heart of Jalisco in the Western side of Mexico, the city of Guadalajara stands as the second-most populated municipal region of Mexico. The city remains a significant business, economic, cultural, industrial, and technological center of the country.
Guadalajara is famous for its blend in architectural buildings featuring both ancient castles and modern skyscrapers. The cityscape of Guadalajara includes tourist attractions like the iconic double gold-spired Cathedral of Teatro Degollado and the famous Palacio Del Gobierno. Several art galleries and numerous iconic museums throughout the city like the famous Museo de Arte Huichol also form major attraction spots as well as educational spots for the history and development of Guadalajara.
Tequila, a very famous town to the Northwestern region of Guadalajara, attracts many tourists because of its name, and it features many liquor distilling companies and excursions to showcase the unique taste of the renowned drink.

When to visit Guadalajara

Guadalajara experiences a humid subtropical climate that is Köppen classified as Cwa. The weather borders significantly on the tropical climate, featuring hot and wet summers and dry, warm winters, and is majorly influenced by the moderately high altitude of the region.
There is a rainy season in Guadalajara, which comes around during the summer season, and thunderstorms and cases of flooding usually accompany it. Cases of hailstones during these rains are widespread.
During winter, from December to February, the average daily temperature ranges from 10°C (50°F) to 27°C (80.6°F). This temperature makes the days a lot warmer considering its high altitude, although some parts of Guadalajara’s outskirts may record lower temperature readings than these. Winter is moderately dry, with the collected precipitation barely going above 15.5mm (0.6") on average.
During spring, from March to April, Guadalajara experiences its driest season of the year. The rain gauge collects an average of 5.5mm (0.2") in precipitation across the two months. Both months combined record only one and a half rainfall days on average. Spring’s temperature range is between 13°C (55.4°F) and 31°C (87.8°F).
Summer runs from May through to October and has the mercury rising to 33°C (91.4°F) or more on the hottest days. This temperature, plus the eight and a half daily hours of sunshine, makes Guadalajara quite warm during the day. However, at night, the temperature drops to a mild range of 15°C (59°F) and 16.7°C (62.1°F). The summer rainfall cools down much of the heat. The rainfall comes from June to September, and on an average of twenty days per month, to record the highest rainfall of the year: 215.5mm (8.5"). July remains the rainiest month of the year, with up to 272.5mm (10.7") collected in precipitation. Summer brings many weather hazards to Guadalajara because of the long, heavy rains. Thunderstorms and hailstones accompanying the rain are reported alongside cases of flooding in the lower regions of the city’s outskirts.
Most tourists arrive in Guadalajara from December to April. The period has warm and pleasant weather, and most days are dry and safe from the summer-related weather hazards.
Some of the popular events in Guadalajara include the Guadalajara International Film Festival in March, the International Mariachi Festival in September, and the renowned Guadalajara International Book Fair between November and December.
